Pirelli HangarBicocca Public Program is a calendar of events that include talks, tours, film and video screenings, concerts, and performances, underscoring the multifaceted, open and cross-disciplinary nature of contemporary art.
Talks give visitors the chance to listen first-hand to the views of artists, curators, writers, philosophers, and experts in various fields. These conversations set off from themes and aspects of the exhibitions and branch out into a broader, multidisciplinary vision of the cultural context that artists have drawn on in making their work.
The Public Program also includes film and video screenings, which explore the historical background, languages, and conceptual context of the shows, presenting works by experimental filmmakers, and workshops led by artists and professionals from other disciplines.
Concerts and performances bring the exhibitions to life through the language of music and the performing arts, and are sometimes conceived as an integral part of the artists’ work, sometimes as special projects linked to the pieces on exhibit.
During the warmer months, the outdoor spaces house the Summer Festival, a series organized in collaboration with the artists which brings the languages of music and visual art out of the exhibition space.
