Summer Camps 2017

“Arte da scoprire” (Discovering Art)

This year, the Pirelli HangarBicocca Summer Camps for children from 7 to 12 will become an exciting voyage through the work of Italian artist Rosa Barba and Polish artist Miroslaw Balka.

Kids will have all kinds of fun discovering the fascinating cinematic language of Rosa Barba’s 35 and 16 mm films and kinetic sculptures. They’ll learn to use all five senses rather than just looking at the art, because as Miroslaw Balka tells us, visitors need to remember that “they are not only eyes, but also the body that walked in the space.”

The kids will familiarize themselves with the worlds conjured up by Rosa Barba and Miroslaw Balka and explore the powerfully compelling works of these two figures. Both the films and sculptures in Rosa Barba’s show “From Source to Poem to Rhythm to Reader” and the powerful installations in Miroslaw Balka’s major retrospective “CROSSOVER/S” create a dialogue with the industrial setting, so that our full realm of sensory experience is brought into action when visiting the show.
In addition to the creative activities and workshops designed by the Pirelli HangarBicocca Educational Department, each week will include moments of relaxation and recreation, as well as two field trips to museums in Milan, rounding out the program organized at the exhibition space.

From 12 June to 30 June 2017, “Arte da scoprire” will be repeated for three one-week sessions, each dedicated to a specific age group.
