The Enigma of the Double – A Writing Workshop with Sandrone Dazieri
On Thursday 21 May, at 7.30 pm, HangarBicocca presents The Enigma of the Double. A writing workshop with Sandrone Dazieri, the first in a two-month series of events involving art and narrative.
Juan Muñoz, who liked to refer to himself as “a storyteller”, had a particular interest in enigmas and in the ability of words to conjure up fictitious scenarios. In the company of one of the best-established and most famous mystery writers in Italy, the spaces of the “Double Bind & Around” exhibition, which are inhabited by ambiguous, disorienting sculptures characterised by optical and perceptive illusions, provide the setting for a workshop on the ability of words to create imaginary worlds and realities.
The workshop, which is designed for adults and coordinated by the Education Department of HangarBicocca, will be led by Sandrone Dazieri, an author famous for his novels and screenplays for the cinema and television. Taking inspiration from the elements and settings of the Juan Muñoz exhibition, he will accompany the public in the creation of a short mystery tale.
On this occasion, all those taking part will be able to go on an exclusive guided tour of the Juan Muñoz exhibition together with Sandrone Dazieri and the curatorial staff of HangarBicocca.
In the following two weeks, those present and all visitors to HangarBicocca will be invited to write a brief text and to send it to firstname.lastname@example.org with “Workshop Dazieri” in the subject line. The authors of the 20 best works will win a place on a full-day creative writing course with Dazieri on July 2nd.
The event is part of the Public Program devoted to “Double Bind & Around” by Juan Muñoz, a project designed and coordinated by Giovanna Amadasi, in collaboration with the Curatorial Department and the Education Department of HangarBicocca. The events take place in the exhibition space and involve HangarBicocca staff and other experts on the artistic career of the Spanish artist.
